Sonic Symposium
26th January 11am – 1pm
A symposium with the curator and participants of Two Places. This will provide an opportunity to listen to some of the most innovative individuals working in the field of sonic arts in Ireland discuss their own work, respond to the work on display and think about how Two Places fits into a wider discussion on the direction and role of Sonic art in Ireland today.
The speakers are: Pedro Rebelo, Jurgen Simpson, Anthony Kelly, David Stalling, Slavek Kwi, Grainne Mulvey and Barbara Freeman. THe discussion will be lead by curator Sean McCrum
‘A History of Sonic Art’ Talk by Dr Eric Lyon (SARC)
2nd February 4pm
An afternoon talk that will provide an entertaining run through of the main developments of sonic art as a modern art form. Drinks and discussion afterwards.
Artist in Profile: Lunchtime Talk with Barbara Freeman
5th February 1pm – 1.45pm
Musique Concrete Workshop with Matt Green
9th February/ 12pm – 4pm
Go out into Belfast armed with recording equipment to capture the sounds of the city. These findings will later be used to put together an original composition.

Family Noise shop with Grainne Mulvey
16th February/ 10.30am – 11.45am
A Family workshop suitable for 3-5 year olds with Two Places artist Grainne Mulvey. This workshop will involve the creation and manipulation of a range of weird and wonderful instruments, aiming to form a composition masterpiece at the end of the session!
Experimental Sound Workshop with Slavek Kwi
23rd February 11am-1pm
Experience a unique workshop that will involve the sonic exploration and manipulation of objects that will seek to explore and challenge your listening skills. This will be followed later in the afternoon by a performance by Two Places artists Slavek Kwi, Anthony Kelly and David Stalling.
