Artist Hubert Czerepok will talk to OBG Exhibitions Officer Feargal O’Malley about his provocative drawings inspired by found footage and media reporting of catastrophic events.
Architecture of Happiness – Discussion
Saturday 9th May 4pm – 5pm, Free
Marek Wasilewski will talk about his work ‘Happiness’, inspired by Alain de Botton’s book, ‘The Architecture of Happiness’. The work explores the idea of housing demonstrating identity and personality. Marek will speak about Polish architecture in the context of his work and invites the audience to bring in pictures of their own houses and join in a discussion on the philosophy, meaning and social information behind the architecture of a place.
Us and Them – Performance/ Presentation
Saturday 23rd May, 3pm – 4pm, Free
Renowned performance artist Julita Wojcik will deliver a ‘classroom’ style talk on the difference between the Poles and the Northern Irish. This will be an ironic and comical examination of the changing economic relationship between the two nations. The artist will make a new video piece for this presentation
International Banquet
Thursday 21st May, 7pm – 9pm, Free
To accompany Energy Class B, OBG is hosting an International Banquet to celebrate the diversity of cultures in Belfast. To join in, bring one dish from the country of your origin, be it pierogi, chilli or champ! This event is a great way to meet new people from all over the world living in Belfast, while sampling a range of international cuisine and listening to live Polish music.
Places are limited so book early to reserve a place. People who have not booked will not be admitted. This event is free but everyone must bring a traditional dish!
